New Carol

Guy has recently completed a new carol for SSATB, based on the text the Sans Day Carol, but very different it atmosphere to the famous version. This was written in memory of Guy’s friend Bernard Berryman.

New Large Scale Commission

Guy is currently in negotiations about the possibility of a new commission for a choral work. If confirmed this will take the form of a set of settings of love poems by female poets – the working title is ‘To Love and be Loved’.

Festival Anthem

The Nottinghamshire Branch of the Royal School of Church Music commission guy to write an anthem for their Choirs Festival in Southwell Minster on Saturday 17th October, when it was performed by massed choir under Paul Hale. The Anthem is called ‘And Made Loud Music’.

New Carol for Minster School

The Minster School, Southwell, has commissioned Guy to compose a new carol for their Christmas Concert. The resulting piece is called lullabies and antiphons and is written for SATB choir and orchestra. The premiere will be on Monday 14th December 2015 at the school concert in Southwell Minster.

New Introit for Southwell Minster

Paul Hale, the Rector Choir (Director of Music) at Southwell Minster, celebrated twenty-five years in the post after Easter 2014. The Dean and Chapter commissioned Guy to write a new introit to celebrate this event. This is called ‘The Harmonies of God’s Grace’, and has words by Peter Baelz, former Dean of Durham. This has now become a regular part of the Cathedral Choir’s repertoire.

Robin Hood Premier

Guy’s latest big commission is a choral work based on the legends of Robin Hood, for the Nottingham Bach Choir, which was premiered on June 13th 2014 at St Mary’s Church, Nottingham. The Bach Choir commissioned a new work for their 60th Anniversary season. Nottingham of course is central to many of the Robin Hood Legends – and one of the earliest stories partly takes place in St Mary’s Church itself. The work will be for SATB choir and Piano, lasting about 35 minutes. Guy plans to orchestrate it for future performances.

Carols for Nottingham Bach Choir

On December 14th at 4.30 at St Peter’s Church Nottingham, the Nottingham Bach Choir will be including four of Guy’s Carols is their Christmas Concert. (The Woodpigeon Carol, All and Some, The Worlde’s Desire and Adoration Carol)
